JT happy to make amends

England captain John Terry revealed his relief after making amends for his goal-costing blunder by heading the winner in a 2-1 victory over Germany.

Terry took full responsibility and exonerated goalkeeper Scott Carson of any blame after gifting Germany's Patrick Helmes an equaliser.

He said: "I should have dealt with the situation better. Someone of my experience should have cleared it."

Capello: Players were fab

England coach Fabio Capello admitted to being "very happy" after his side edged a 2-1 friendly success in Germany.

Goals from Matthew Upson and John Terry brought victory in Berlin despite a host of key players being injured.

Capello said: "I had confidence in the team. They knew what they had to do and what I wanted from them. We played well and with technical ability - all the players did, so I'm happy about that."

Germany 1 England 2

Centre-halves Matthew Upson and John Terry scored the goals which gave England an impressive win in Berlin.

Upson stabbed home after Germany keeper Rene Adler flapped at Stewart Downing's corner (24) but Terry's mix-up with substitute keeper Scott Carson handed Patrick Helmes a simple leveller (63).

Darren Bent missed a sitter and Shaun Wright-Phillips hit a post but Terry headed in Downing's free-kick (84).
