X Factor won't ditch 'faker'

The X Factor makers have dismissed reports that contestant Alan Turner's place on the show was in doubt over claims that he lied to judges.

It follows reports that Turner's father said his son had lied about not knowing his real family.

An X Factor spokeswoman said the show and Alan, 23, "refute all the claims made" and that his place was "never in jeopardy".

The row over Turner began after he told Simon Cowell and other judges that he wanted to "prove to my real family that I'm not a waste of space".

The call centre worker added that he was put into foster care at four and wanted to make his foster mum "proud".

But his father Alan Sr said his son was brought up by a grandmother and he regularly spoke to him on the phone.
